Great pub, lovely decor, fabulous food, friendly staff would highly recommend.
Don't be fooled by the bland exterior, the inside is warm and welcoming, made moreso by the staff. All the dishes served are prepared using locally caught, grown or slaughtered ingredients. The freshness is second to none. I had the scallops then the fish and chips. Quite simply the biggest, most succulent fried fish I've ever tasted. The batter was light with a subtle crisp that contrasted the velvety smoothness of the fish perfectly.The only criticism I can level is at the carparking. It's round the back, which you may miss if you're coming from the wrong direction, and there are far too few places.
Day boat Hake was fabulous today and my dining friend had the plaice, which was reported as exceptional. It is always good when you start out being good as they did here a year ago..... It's hard to keep it that way, which they have. Well done!!
Amazing food - atmosphere - people. This is what every village pub should aspire to but I doubt any will ever be as good as this. Probably the best village pub in the world...
Good food, varied menu and locally sourced ingredients, they even have an allotment at the back! Nicely decorated and clean pub with a good selection of ales and gins. The service was also excellent.
